01Software in the age of AI

What used to cost €200,000 now costs €3,000 to €30,000.

AI has fundamentally changed how software gets built. It handles the grunt work – and experience decides whether the result is solid software or an expensive experiment.

Then · traditional agency

Budget
€80,000–€200,000
Timeline
6–12 months
Team
5–8 people

Project management, concept, design, frontend, backend, DevOps, QA – and endless meetings in between.

Now · with me & an AI workflow

Budget
€3,000–€30,000
Timeline
1–8 weeks
Team
1 senior developer

One point of contact who owns concept, code and operations – powered by AI.

* Ballpark figures for typical small and mid-sized projects. Large platforms like CaterSmart sit above this range.

01

AI as a tool, not an autopilot

AI writes boilerplate, tests and documentation. I define architecture, data model and business logic myself – backed by automated tests, strict typing and CI/CD.

02

Direct, no game of telephone

No project manager in between, no agency chain. You talk to the person who writes and runs your code.

03

Enterprise standards from day one

CI/CD, automated tests, monitoring and backups come standard – the same standards I use for my own SaaS products.

02Services

Anything web-based. From idea to production.

Lean MVP or highly scalable platform: I build software that fits your processes – not the other way around.

/01

Custom software & web apps

Customer portals, ordering systems, booking platforms, back-office tools – tailored to how you actually work instead of off-the-shelf software full of compromises.

  • Customer portals
  • Ordering systems
  • Booking platforms
  • Back office
  • SaaS
/02

Mobile apps for iOS & Android

One codebase, two stores: apps built with React Native and Expo – including push notifications, offline mode and publishing to the App Store and Google Play.

  • React Native
  • Expo
  • Push
  • Offline
/03

Integrations & APIs

ERP, SAP, DATEV, shop, CRM, payment providers: I connect your systems so data flows instead of being retyped.

  • REST
  • GraphQL
  • Webhooks
  • OAuth
/04

Tools & automation

Internal tools, workflows and replacing that one Excel sheet everything depends on. No more copy & paste between five different programs.

  • Dashboards
  • Workflows
  • Queues
/05

AI integration

Extract data from documents, triage incoming requests, build assistants with access to your data – AI where it actually saves time. Including MCP servers for Claude & co.

  • LLMs
  • MCP
  • Agents

Infrastructure & DevOps

Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, monitoring, backups: I don't just build the software – I build the foundation it runs on reliably.

  • Kubernetes
  • GitLab CI
  • Monitoring

03Integrations

I connect anything to everything.

REST, GraphQL, SOAP, webhooks, CSV exports or straight into the legacy system's database – if it has data, I can connect it. Shop, ERP, accounting, CRM, payments and AI: I make your systems talk to each other.

For example

  • Orders from your shop land in the ERP automatically
  • Invoices go straight to DATEV or lexoffice
  • Leads from web forms are created in your CRM
  • Inventory levels sync in real time
  • AI triages incoming emails and opens cases
  • Stripe and PayPal payments are booked automatically

04My own products

I don't just build for clients. I run my own software.

CaterSmart and TickySmart are my own SaaS products – built, operated and used by real businesses every day. That hands-on experience in development, scaling and support goes into every client project.

05Infrastructure

From a single server to a Kubernetes cluster.

Not every project needs a cluster. I recommend what fits your load, budget and risk – and scale with you as you grow.

01 · Solid

Single server

A well-secured server with Docker and Coolify, automated deployments and daily backups.

  • Docker & Coolify
  • Daily backups
  • SSL & firewall
  • Servers in Germany

Best for: MVPs, internal tools, projects up to ~1,000 users

Running costs approx. €5–40 / month

02 · Fail-safe

High availability

Multiple app servers behind a load balancer, a replicated database and automatic failover.

  • Load balancer
  • 2+ app servers
  • Read replicas & failover
  • Point-in-time recovery

Best for: Business-critical software, shops, customer portals

Running costs approx. €50–150 / month

03 · Scalable

Kubernetes cluster

Container orchestration with autoscaling, zero-downtime deployments and full observability.

  • Autoscaling
  • GitLab CI/CD & GitOps
  • Grafana & Prometheus
  • Queues & workers (BullMQ)

Best for: SaaS platforms, high load, spiky traffic

Running costs approx. €80–250 / month

06Privacy & data sovereignty

Your data stays your data.

GDPR compliance isn't an add-on for me, it's the default. And if you need it even stricter: open source, European providers only, on-premise on your own servers – all the way to AI models that run entirely in-house.

  • Servers in Germany
  • EU providers only
  • On-premise
  • Local AI
  • Open source

Open-source building blocks, including

  • PostgreSQL
  • Keycloak
  • MinIO
  • Ollama
  • Hugging Face
  • Nextcloud
  • Hetzner

GDPR by design

Retention periods and deletion policies, data access and export, consent, encryption and role-based permissions – planned from day one instead of bolted on later.

European providers only

Hosting, email delivery, payments, AI: on request, only providers headquartered and hosted in the EU – including data processing agreements.

Open source, no lock-in

Proven open-source building blocks like PostgreSQL, Keycloak or MinIO: no license fees, no dependency on US tech giants, everything self-hostable.

On-premise & your own cloud

Your software runs wherever you want: managed by me in Germany, in your cloud account or on your own servers – even fully offline if needed.

Local AI models

AI without data leaving the building: open-source models like Llama, Mistral or Qwen run on your servers. Documents, emails and customer data never leave the house.

Documentation & evidence

Technical and organisational measures, records of processing activities, deletion policy: I deliver the paperwork your data protection officer wants to see.

07Tech stack

Modern, proven, web-based.

Anything that runs in the browser, on the server or on a smartphone. I pick tools for the project – not for the hype.

12FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does custom software cost with you?

Most projects land between €3,000 and €30,000 – depending on scope, integrations and operational requirements. The calculator gives you a realistic price range in two minutes. Large platforms get a custom quote.

How can this be so much faster and cheaper than an agency?

AI now handles a large share of the routine work: boilerplate, tests, documentation, translations. Add proven building blocks from my own products and zero overhead from project management chains. You pay for results, not for meetings.

Isn't AI-generated code full of bugs?

Without guardrails, yes – which is why I work with clear guardrails. I define the architecture and data model myself, personally check critical areas like payments, permissions and data protection, and automated tests, strict typing and CI/CD keep bugs from going live. AI is my tool, not my replacement.

Who owns the source code?

You do. When the project is done, you get full usage rights and the complete source code in your own Git repository. No lock-in.

Where is the software hosted? Is it GDPR-compliant?

By default on servers in Germany – GDPR-compliant and with a data processing agreement. Alternatively, I deploy to your cloud or on-premise on your own servers, including locally hosted AI models if you like.

Do you also handle operations and maintenance?

Yes. If you like, I take care of hosting, updates, monitoring, backups and further development – from basic maintenance to running a Kubernetes cluster.

Can you take over or extend existing software?

Yes. I start with a code and infrastructure audit so we know what we're building on. Then we decide together: extend, modernize or replace step by step.

Do you work with agencies?

Absolutely – white-label too. I've partnered with agencies for years, handling development, integrations or infrastructure for their clients.

How does working together remotely work?

Remote, structured and transparent: video calls, weekly demos, a shared board. For workshops in the Bayreuth, Nuremberg and Upper Franconia area, I'm happy to come by in person.
